Instacart Shopper App
Earnings Improvements
I worked on 2 projects that improved the way Instacart shoppers earn: 1) More clarity about customer’s tips and 2) Instant access to tips.
Context
Shoppers’ earnings from tips have nearly doubled since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ensuring Instacart shoppers have consistent access to earnings — including tips — is a crucial part of the shopper experience for Instacart.
Problem
When customers change a shopper’s tip after delivery, this change was not clearly communicated to the shopper in their earnings summary.
In addition, shoppers were not able to cash out their tips earnings right away, as they had to wait for the window in which the customer could adjust the tip post-delivery.
Goals
1) Clearer understanding of tip changes by introducing tip education, summary breakdown and notification to celebrate when tip is increased.
2) Easier and faster access to tips earnings by breaking down pending and settled tip amounts shopper can cash out.
